I just recently thought of Sigma's words in the end of X7 before you fight him:

X: So, it was YOU all along!

Zero: You never give up, do you? Even when we break you down to scrap, you always come back.

Sigma: Thats right folks. I'll do it AGAIN AND AGAIN. I will make X and Zero mine!

So Sigma said he will come back "again and again" in as far as X7, and again and again is MORE than one time (and he only came back ONE more time for X8), so, if Sigma does actually stick to his words, as he always seems to, he SHOULD be back for X9. God I hope so, anyway, although I also want Lumine to return.


(One more thing, how come in X7 there is no mention of Sigma's name? Not even in dialogue? "SIGMA" is shown by his sub-titles when he is talking, but other than that, is never mentioned, like in a sentence or anything, which I thought was very strange. Why didn't X say "So it was YOU all along, Sigma!")

Well the main premise in X7 was Red Alert until of course sigma at the end...but you would know that sigma would appear


As in appearing in X9...like pretty much any other topic that talking about sigma being in X9 (i think this the third or fourth topic...someyhing along the lines....) he probably will show up but thats my opinion

True he did say that and he did come back in X8 as a duplicate and a virus. P.S if you played the first X game after the credits sigma shows his face and says he wasnt really destroyed it was a duplicate but my spirit is still intact......

I think sigma's body is dead, of course, but His virus still coats the earth, and his virus can manifest itself into a physical form (like his head) so i think that what happens is virus starts to wreak havoc now that his body is gone or something and the it all gathers into one manifestation to eliminate X and Zero or whoever. Then I think this is where the mother elf comes in.

Is this accurate or am I terribly wrong?

Yeah the Mother Elf was made to purge the Sigma Virus before Weil had taken control of it, and apparently some of Sigma's programming remains in the next generation of reploids, such as Lumine. Sigma's "spirit" as the Maverick virus could very well still exist, but it would need to find a suitable host I would think, before we saw an actual return of Sigma...not like that's been hard for him. We never do see him during the Zero series though, so he would have had to have died eventually. Ditto with Axl...Course, with the ending of Megaman X8 focusing on Axl for that one moment, with his head crystal shattered (very similar to what had happened with Sigma and Zero, I might add, when the Maverick Virus transferred itself to Zero to become the Sigma Virus), it's possible that Axl could become a host body, or even become the next Sigma. Heh, with his shape changing ability, it's possible that Axl could even take Sigma's form, and only at the final confrontation, reveal that Axl was really the ones pulling the strings. Axl would have had to have died at some point, after all.

I'm guessing that he will not be in X9, but will be in X10.

And you're right. They didn't mention his name. That's kinda dumb. People who are not Mega Man fans would have no idea who Sigma is when reading the credits.

I hope he doesn't make an appearance in X9, or if he does, at least make it something that'll finish him off for good. It's just way too repetitive and obvious seeing Sigma as the final boss.

Well, officially, Sigma will not be truly dead until the creation of the mother elf. Whether or not he appears again in corporeal form is unknown.

Question, why does Sigma has to look like Sigma :/ I mean, I know he likes coming back and trying to destroy X and Zero for his own good. But, does he have to look the same all the time? D: this thing secretly bugged me the other times I played X6 and over. I like his face, but as a virus, he shoul take over a host reploid and stick with the face of that reploid. :/ New master plan right there, but it just never happens, and it kinda bugs me :/ How does Sigma remember his own face anyway?

Sigma does look different all the time. His face is the same, but that's it. And I kinda like how him as the virus still has the same head-shaped look. That way, we know it's still Sigma, and not someone different like Lumine or whatever. Not sure why it bugs you.

And those other mavericks infected witht he Sigma virus, why haven't their face changed to look like Sigma? I know, very wierd thought right there, but, I just can't see how Sigma keeps trying to keep his face with this virus. Think about the new plans he could do when his face did change...X and Zero could have been in bigger trouble than before when Sigma is in disguise. Double EASILY made it in the Maverick-Hunter base as a spy for Sigma, why couldn't Sigma do that instead and infect the whole base?

Also, just a self anti conversation thingie, Zero wouldn't have the same face either..or maybe he wasn't destroyed enough to be completely regenerated. Sigma was completely destroyed those other times I've seen Sigma die.

But blah, that's just me being bugged about Sigma's pretty little face. Overall, I think if Sigma made it to X9, he should just have a different face. :D

Think about it, a different base could have recruited a Sigma possessed repliod with a very good background, does not look ugly at all, and that base within the diameter of the base X and Zero work in. When something big happens! WOOT everyone battle ready! 8 boss fights and a mysterious guy wanting X and Zero death and add the beginning of the elf wars story here. And so the war happens, when the bosses are done with their battling and X, Zero and Axl make it through to the mysterious base where there are all the hidden stuff(Should be a Sigma possessed base) surprise our fellow hunters. That's when the possessed reploid comes and and laughs his butt off about the good power in the elf or something, and an epic battle of the century happens, creating the dark elf and things and stuff until the reploid lost. His face explodes into Sigma's face and the hunters are surprised as heck, here is when Sigma FINALLY unleashes his super form he had hidden since day 1 of Sigma turning bad. Everyone manages to kill Sigma off ONCE AND FOR ALL, but the dark elf still living, some magic force split it into two.

That's when X decides to absorb the half into his body and Axl taking the other half(Elpizo probably found his remains in MM2 if it were revealed.) Then a side story happens since the death of sigma was just the beginning of the war, however, since the halves of the dark elves were absorbed, X and Axl have only a limited time before they get enraged in their own power and turn evil. This is where Dr. Wiel and Omega come in, zero probably had unleashed Maximum power that Wily had put into him(for example, Omega in MMZ3). So all three of the hunters are at very max powers and went down to get rid of Wiel. Zero was probably emo before Wiel happened, and thus, he decided to get rid of his current body for studies of the original creator. Then Wiel stole the Zero body and it is up to X and Axl to deafeat Wiel and lock him away. They found out in the middle of the battle, that there are too much mavericks and need help from Zero, so they got Zero back by making another body and reinstalling the memory X had downloaded into the computer.

Thus, those three come to shine once again, lock away Wiel and Omega, and the wars is nearing its middle, and after Wiel had been locked away, the war eventually settled down in less than 100 years. Right after the the arrest, is where the three hunters split up. X, Zero, and Axl placed very far apart, especially X and Axl because they had realized, the closer they are, the more powerful the dark elf would be and are put to a massive hibernation, where X turned into a cyber elf and continued to lead, and same goes for Axl. Axl probably didn't show because his remains were destroyed before the war was completely over. Thus Axl's cyber-elf died. Why they put Zero back to sleep, because it wasn't the power the scientists were looking for, but his past memories when Zero was born. X probably stopped leading when copy X happened, when the poeple and reploids realized that the 'real' deal is happening and the spirit was forced into hiding.

And to think this all started with Sigma's face change. This is all happened in my head, so don't think I stole the idea or something. X9 having two parts sounds pretty interesting right about now.

Honestly, I think it would be pretty cool if Sigma's gem at the top of his head resurrected dead mavericks. That would be beast. Plus, if he does come back, (Which he should, he always seems to.) he could have this ability to resurrect in the boss battle, like he could bring Lumine back and she could do some martial arts crap. Also, the whole thing of cyber elves confuses me.
