With Sony having been ex-partnered from Nintendo from producing the SNES CD counterpart, the Playstation was born. And into such a success as today.
What I find simply amazing were what game developers were able to do with it. I mean the SNES was amazing all itself, but the Playstation having no further relation to Nintendo, it was just an amazing counterpart.
Such as Vagrant Story, Xenogears... Etc...
Any others you remember?

The original Soul Blade, which began the Soul Caliber series, was the best fighting game of it's time hands down (screw Tekken 3).
Then you have your Twisted Metal, which I got for free for buying a defective PS.
Obvious games like FFVII, VIII and the lesser known Vagrant Story.
Then you have your Resdent Evil, Silent Hill and Dino Crisis games. Metal Gear Solid, Driver, THPS, Grandia
I could spout off names forever. GTA2, Legacy of Kain, Die Hard Trilogy, Bushido Blade...
but I digress
All of those pretty much defined that era for me

Naturally all the MMX games were on the PSX as well. Spyro the dragon was another good series. Too bad they dumped that one into the crapper. After "Year of the Dragon" which was by far the best of them and the releases on PS2, the series flunked.

Oh, and Bryan Fury was my boy in Tekken 3. He had so many powerful moves that if put into the right sequence, you could beat anybody without them getting off anything.

Not a bad quote to live by.

because you used the word "classic", I'm assuming its just the playstation. smite me if I'm wrong.
I never had a playstation of my own. My older bro had it, and I always only watched him. He rarely ever let me play(only when he was takin a nap..)
but when I watched him play games, it was almost as if I were, becaus all decisions he ever made were what I would do(and better).
games that I remember him playing are
-Megaman Legends 1&2
-FF 7-9
--mind just went blank--
-MGS
That's all I remember at the moment....I think I just had a memory wipe...>_>
Bloody roar?(if that was the fighting game that allowed you to transform into anthro's...)
eh.
But during the times I could play, I was able to play four games that I had due to the mod chip. Two digimon games, one which was futuristic and a tactics game, and this other where you're this kid that got transported to the digital world by accident. You had this partner that could digivolve into(and stay at) any digimon depending on how you treated it(treat it like sh*t and that's what ya get). Because of this game's adventure-gamestyle, it was my fav. game. Then I had this spiderman game. I always died on this level where you had to get to some electric guy in the subway, and he'd pretty much kamehameha the whole tunnel and switch to the alternate tunnel you could go through. So I didn't like this game that much.
And the last game was Destrega. It was in Japanese so I didn't understand the story. But it had unique and awesome gameplay.
By brother threw this away months after we got a ps2 because the mod chip stopped working. I didn't know this, so I cried in hopes of him letting me keep it. He then decided I could keep it if I beat him in a 60-point match in James Bond-Agent under fire....I lost, 58-60(I was playing with all I had too...So I lost it.(He threw it away because all of our games required a mod chip.)

The PSX is the term used for the original PS1. Used before PS1 took over from the relaunch.
Well, that is too bad... But mod chips do possess problems for consoles. Being 3rd party and all... At least you got to experience it...

In that case I think it's the regional difference, if not just the modchip breaking down on its own. If you take a SNES from American and bring it over to Europe for example, you may expierence problems without proper cables. The most common (or quite common at least) reason for this is that you may need different power adapter (along with right plug), because the mains electricity in America has voltage of 120, where in Europe it is 230. And then the frequency in America is 60 Hz, while in Europe 50 Hz. This alone may glitch the console and break it eventually. Though, you didn't tell did you get a proper power adapter, so yeah.
In this case, Korea has 220V and 60Hz (except North-Korea has 50Hz).
Also it might be the regional difference between the TVs (if you bought a new one in America), but as I know less about TVs I'll leave it there.
Anyway, back to the topic...
PSX was heck of a blast for me when it came down to gaming. I never owned PS1 or PS2, but I played a lot with friends on their consoles. We always had great time with games like FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, WipeOut, Tekken 3, Street Fighter (can't remember which), Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, MGS and all those other classics. PS1 will always have a big role in how I became a "hardcore gamer", but quite frankly I played more games on N64 at that period of time. During PS2 era though I didn't really play Game Cube at all and I didn't even get to touch XboX anywhere (no one was interested in it here).
I'm going to get PS2 next year so I can finally buy some of the classics I have always wanted.

As you said, taking an American electronic anywhere without a adapter WILL break it. I believe we have the lowest power grid in the world. Taking a foreign console to America shouldn't cause any issues. It will either start or do nothing since there isn't enough power.
Anyways, over the years, I've turned into a Sony fan as their systems had the best ranges of games but now I'll get everything.

PEPSI MAN!!!!
Anyways, I thought the PSX was an amazing console! Though I just got a Nintendo 64 recently (like a month ago) and I don't have a Sony console of any kind...
It doesn't matter though, because I could just use my old PSX discs to play them on ePSXe...
