I think this game is way better when compared to Portable Ops thus far. While Portable Ops was nice, I didn't like it too much for the somewhat boring missions with the exception of missions that led into boss battles and such. This time around missions seem also more interesting in that aspect that they do not take place in one area only, like how it did in Portable Ops, plus that there's more variation to the areas aswell. Also switching the suit for Snake sounds pretty cool concept. My only concern gameplay-wise is that the boss battle(?) present in the demo feels kinda akward.
The only real thing ticking me off is that the voice acting in English doesn't sound so good this time around in some points. Especially where the Japanese voice for Paz sounded good, the English one tries to forcefully create an impression of a Costa Rican accent... Which sounds quite akward if I can say anything about it.
Also, is it me or does David Hayter's voice say "Stuff" instead of "Stealth" when you pick the Sneaking Suit from the mission select screen?
Either way, this is a must get whenever this comes out. Already played through the Japanese demo 20 times and English one about five times.

portable ops was good but short and there was no real insentive to upgrade your team and doing that took way to much time i did the whole thing really quickly using nothing but my mk22 and medical supplies!
but metal gear peace walker is metal gear at its finest full of features and real insentive to use them and its acctually got some pretty good play time unlike portable ops (which had a play time of 7 hours for me)
a definate must have from me

Anyway, back on topic. I haven't played Peace Walker much... I just recently finished MGS1 and 2, and I'm currently playing MGS3 and Portable Ops. The most I've played of Peace Walker is the opening training sequences of Demo-Ops, before I got the game.
I know there's a lot of Portable Ops vs. Peace Walker discussions around, though. Personally, I prefer Portable Ops style controls, though Peace Walker did them slightly better. Also, Peace Walker is more of a full Metal Gear Solid game... Portable Ops, from the beginning, was a handheld spinoff. Even though the story is canon, it wasn't meant to be as fully-featured as the main series. So, naturally, Peace Walker's going to be better. Which is the main reason I want to finish Portable Ops before I play it.
(I do enjoy playing as Para-Medic in Portable Ops, though.
