Cave Story - I have no words to describe this awesome 2D Metroidvania-style platformer. If you want to know more about it: http://en.wikipedia....iki/Cave_Story. So, anyone on forum play this game? I can't understand how to get a Spur laser. Those laser lies in the First Cave. But, i can't get to this cave. Can you help me?

Cave Story is my favorite indie game at the moment. It's just a shame that with each re-release there is barely any new content. As much as I love the game and music, I'm just going to throw this out there: Don't get the 3DS version unless you're a hardcore fan and want to support Pixel and Nicalis, as the game is still the same length with little additional effort and content added. And a game of this length is not worth $40.00 US.

Anyway, to answer your question in more detail:

At some point, you will get an item called the Booster. Now, there are two versions of this item. The Booster v1.0 and the Booster v2.0. Getting the v1.0 is easy, and you can technically use it to get to the First Cave again, although it's tricky. The Booster v2.0 on the other hand, is infinitely better, but getting the v2.0 is tricky. It's also necessary to access and traverse the game's -true- Final Cave and Final Dungeon (Hell), and then the best ending. To get the v2.0, you need to actually skip getting the v1.0. This is tricky because you have to perform a -perfect- jump to get over the gap that the game -wants- you to fall into to get the Booster. This is a spoiler alert, so I'll describe it in detail below:

After the boss battle with Monster X (it's a large machine with a paw print on it that shoots missiles and lasers at you), you will come to a room with a large gap. The first thing you'll see is Professor Booster falling down the middle. If you jump down the gap and talk to him, he gives you the Booster v1.0. But then he dies. Instead of going down after him, look at the platform you're on. You'll notice a red pattern or marking on one of the tiles. Get a running start and then jump as long and high as you can from that exact red spot and you'll make it to the other side of the room without getting the Booster.

Proceed through the game as normal until you finally make it back to the Mimiga Village. Go to Arthur's house, and Professor Booster will pop out of the teleporter, alive, and will give you the Booster v2.0.

Now, once you have the Booster, simply fly up in the Mimiga Village to the set of small platforms that lead you back to the First Cave.

Eh, I think Cave Story+ is a pretty good bang for your buck. It has the boss rush and hell time attack modes, Curly Story, the new Wind Fortress thingamajig, old and new graphics in 60FPS and all three soundtracks (Original, Wii and 3DS)

Which I'm assuming is $9.99 in the US. goddammit steam $1 is not 1€

Cave Story is one of my favorite videogames of all time. Surprised I never made a thread about it, probably assumed everyone has already played it. Love everything about it.

The legend said the Spur is only for new guy, it's flashy, it doesn't need EXP (doesn't get weaker when you get damage), and it deal "lots" of damage when it fully charged, but have weak damage per second (DPS)
And DPS it's pretty much what every hardcore Cave Story player want, cause the only place that need speed is hell and you only have like less than 3 mins to officially beat the game, Spur isn't the weapon of choice, instead it's Snake, Blade/Nemisis, Machine Gun and Super Missile Launcher (obviously)
