This is a 'meme' called 'Get Down'.. Several variations of this exist on the internet, so I figured this would be a good place to start learning MMD. I think for a first-time movie it did pretty well!
Enjoy!

Good job for a first time indeed.

If you read this... don't you have anything more productive to do? Seriously?

This is by far the best version of this Geddan/Get Down meme I've ever seen! Not only because it involves Mega Man X, but also we get to see Zero and Axl looking at X like "WTF?" And looking at each other like "Can't we get him to stop?" Instant classic.
What really amazed me is that the movements for Zero and Axl are so very smooth! I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but there is no "choppy-ness" in any of their movements, not even with X during his lil' butt thing! All movements look so smooth. And it's great! A job well done for a first MMD movie.

Well, keep in mind, the ONLY parts I personally animated was Axl, and Zero, and at the end of X's dance.. Normally at the end of the animation, the character doing the dance stops and goes to a basic standing animation identical to the first few frames (before he/she goes 'Lets go!') .. Instead of having X do that, since I noticed after the second ... love hump session, the character starts lifting into the air, I decided it would be funny to have him stop in midair and fall on his rear, so that's what I had happen, and finished it off with a free crash sound WAV file I found online and just interjected at the right moment. Since MMD allows for a BMP to be used as a background (or a random color), we can actually use this to our advantage and even get into greenscreen effects (like, say, at the end of X1, X on the cliff at the ocean's edge- this would be a perfect opportunity for some green screen effects, though, I have seen MMD use water.)
But there is some AWESOME 'motion data' files available online for MMD. Here's another video- it actually links to mine but anyway.. this is a music video to a Vocaloid song called 'Insanity'.. (which I have fallen in love with).. it's a cross over video of the characters from Hetalia and a Horror game called Ao Oni.. I have not played Ao Oni but I've seen walkthroughs of it (it would honestly make me piss myself!! lol) and I've not seen Hetalia but I know it is an INSANELY POPULAR SHOW. anyway.. Here's the video. Check out the running animation used at 2:41!
That running 'motion data' would be IDEAL for our project. I've already gone and contacted the girl who made this video asking if she could supply a link to the motion data file, but as stated before, these 'motion data' files (running, walking, or a dance, it's of no matter) can be loaded to any character. As ZFG Mu stated, there are several varieties of this same meme out there- all it is is a motion data file loaded to someone's favorite model. Since I am an X fangirl I decided X should be the target.... and subjugated Axl and Zero to the insanity. X3
I'd also like to suggest an idea- we need doubles - random characters, including some humans... For girls, I have 3D Custom Girl... and I think I have a funny idea.
You know how in the Marvel movies, Stan Lee almost ALWAYS makes an appearance somewhere in the movie? So, what about we make MMD models of ourselves and interject them as random humans? Allow me to show off the model I made of myself.. Next to X, of course, for size comparison.

So yah. Since I am fat and all, I used TSO2PMD to make the model fatter than 3DCG will allow when I imported it to MMD... I CAN MAKE FAT PEOPLE. :D I can also make KIDS. So yah! I can also change the height (pretty sure my 5'5" is still an inch or two shorter than X.. I think I remember seeing somewhere he's supposedly around the 5'8" mark, I could be wrong.) We need humans? We got humans. ^_^
So anyway, if this is a cool idea with those on the team, it may be something to look into down the line if people want. I think it would be a cool tidbit as show notes or something "FIND THE STAFF MEMBER" or something. :P That's just me.
Anyway, yah. I'm learning more and more each day. ^_^ Now.... to DL Metasequoia and start trying to make models............. oye vey...

You're really making progress here by the minute!
That running data at 2:41 would be perfect for our action scenes. A lot of the other data in that video could work too for the moments of rest in the show.
I also really like your Personal Cameo idea!!
I SO wanna be an innocent bystander with a quick line or something.
Also.. You got X to Sweat Drop?? Awesome!! There may or may not be moments where we could use a sweat drop.
What I really love here is that you're learning how to customize models for different sizes and statures. And that we have HUMANS!! Yes!! Another one off the checklist down.
Good luck with Metasequoia.
What I'd love to see is a video with X running and looking cool in more actiony type poses. Zero too. Axl can wait though. He's Season VII.. =]

Well, that was some Adobe Photoshop, there. Heh. Although, I DID download an 'Anime Expressions' .x file (...yes, in MMD, accessories are in .x format....) so if need be we can use those.
There is one small problem that we're going to NEED to solve (or hope to God Kurooni does this somehow for us)... Zero.
In case you haven't noticed, the model is type 2. For Season 1, we need Zero Type 1. After we get through Season 1 we can start using Type 2, but.... yah. We're going to need type 1 here or else... Thankfully my friend who RPs with me has a D-Arts Zero type 1, so hopefully she can take some photos of him in case I need to make a model of him somehow (I hope not...) ..
I just started downloading some awesome stages and backdrops (city alley.. a 'dark castle' that honestly looks like it could be Sigma's fortress from X1... Though it may not be high-tech looking enough for that...) there's other stages I've been finding on DA, and I really need to find out how to use PMD editor so I can edit the models further. I also downloaded a bunch of edits and extension packs for 3DCG, so hopefully my choices of clothing will be expanded soon once I find out how to install them proper.
I think this should be time however, I can't find all this stuff on my own. If we can get people to go on a little treasure hunt and find MMD 'stages' that look like they'd fit in the MMX world.. or see about ripping data off the games for 3D objects (especially when we get into the rest of MHHQ, like the Ride Armor Soildiers, etc) ..
It may be worthwhile to make a list of everyone and everything we need a MMD model of, and check them off as we go. Once we have enough, we can go into starting Season 1..
Here's my list of who we need, at the VERY least.
Zero Type 1
Sigma (Kurooni mentioned to me he's finished, I'm just waiting for him to be released for distribution, along with Alia.)
Sigma's dog (possible MHX rip opportunity here)
Dr. Cain
Dr. Light
Dr. Wily (???? Maybe?)
Vile's mecha armor. I have Vile's model, so we're good there.
enemies and such from X1 that you wanted to be part of the OC unit squadrons (Alpha / Beta's, etc) (again, possible MHX rip)
Alpha, Beta, any other OCs (still gotta flesh them out, that's on my to-do list) ..
...that's .. a lot.
Problem is I have to find out how to easily make male humans. 3DCG is.. .. great for females... .. XD;; not so much males.
ahh well. back to work for me! But like I said- if there's one thing I will make sure happens before I pass from this earth, it's going to be seeing this project off the ground.

And Wolfshadow, you brought up a very good point, too. Zero Type II won't come in until Season 2, but that seems to be the only Zero that's available for MMD right now. u.u... Luckily, our red buddy doesn't come in until Episode 5, in Season 1. Still, I think it's awesome that you got to animating him along with Axl.
I'm totally down with the idea of personal cameos, that could be fun! Glad to know that we got humans! ^_^ That will be important down the road, especially in the early court scenes and for the crying girl in Episode 7.

I know. We talked about this. I actually have the D-Arts Zero as well. What we may be able to do is edit the shoulder pads on the Type 2 Zero Model in PMD editor. All he really needs is the shoulder pads taken away, and the yellow to be taken out of his legs. He has a different mid-driff as well. I don't know what PMD editor is like yet, but I'm sure there's a way to figure this out. We will, in time. No sweat.

That's amazing!! I'm so glad to hear that some of these backgrounds are easily accessible. We've talked about ripping MHX backgrounds too. I wonder if there's a graphic sheet of those stages. They will certainly help at the very least if we can find any. That's great to hear about more clothing choices too.

I'm down to research some of that stuff. What's the best way to go about that you think? I think the best way to sort through this is if all 4 of us look for things off of this list.

That is a lot, and unfortunately, that's not even the brunt of it. But you're right. Having a full list of everything is a very organized way of sorting out what needs to be done Graphically. I'll compile a list of Characters and whatever else we need, and we'll do our best to find what we can.
The big question is though, HOW do we rip these graphics from MHX? I guess that's where the research will be coming in...
Quote
Well... I'm sure there's a way around that. One thing I thought about regarding male OCs, is that.. some of them greatly resemble X! And even Zero! So once we get PMD editor going.. maybe theres a few that we can get away with pallete swaps and alterations to helmets and stuff. We'll figure it out. As for the male humans, I can only imagine there's got to be SOME sort of normalish looking male model out there that we can borrow and mold and re-mold.

I really can't tell you how much I appreciate your dedication to the project. Our Visual Department NEEDS a good kick-start like this. And hopefully some new recruits too.

Models, animation data... Holy crap. Stages and backgrounds.... I've only seen the tip of this iceburg but, I HAVE BEEN DOWNLOADING. o_o
Hey, Metal, should the anime have an OP / ED?
As far as how to rip from a game... allow me.

Pretty sure my sister has Maya on her iMac. I can bug her to help me on this since she offered assistance anyway, and keep in mind, Charlie (her husband, the architect from El Salvador) has Sketchup and was already making parts of Abel City for us!
Let's keep in mind that there are people out there that will edit / make models by request. We just have to find them. Someone who's VERY good at PMD editor (so we can edit Zero to be Type 1) and once he's finished, I can show Kurooni and get his/her permission to use him.
When that happens, it may be worthwhile to find someone who knows Japanese to translate on our behalf.. so 1, we can explain WHY we needed to edit her model, and 2, WHAT we're doing. Obviously the online translator isn't helping, and since we're using a Japanese fan's MMD models, we really should find some way to communicate with Kurooni better, IMHO. (Who knows, maybe she'd be willing to help us!)
Still have no idea how to get X's buster on him.... I can give him double Z-Sabres but no buster.. I'll figure it out. >>;;;;;;

Thanks for the links, sweet!
I didn't forget about Charlie. I'd love to see anything of what he's done or talk to him. Also, be sure to show him those Abel City reference pictures I sent you.

An Opening and Ending? Most animes have this.. and it changes usually by season.

Not to mention the music for some of the other scene's we've been working on.
So yes. There should be an Opening, and a Closing Video. I have a few notes for that we can talk about later.

As long as OP/ED is mentioned... then, if needed, I can use my Anime Studio Debut program to do some of the sequences in intros or outros a la "X5 intro movie" style. It wouldn't be like that the whole way through, of course, but for some of it we can have characters sorta "fly" or "dash" while the credits go on. Anime Studio is a program that also uses a layer system, and it's frame-free. ^_^
I don't know if I can import MMD models into Anime Studio though... but the idea is just nice to think about.
Anyway... Worse comes to worse, there's always the option of drawings used in the OP/EDs, too. The problem with that though, is, they wouldn't be able to move with bones too well. Only with layer manipulations.

Spastic action.
I love your work. Very smooth. MMD? MikuMikuDance? Googled real quick and I am wondering how this program can be used to make animations outside of dancing. I'm assuming it just can. What are it's differences and comparisons to other programs like 3d Studio Max, Maya, Beldner etc.
Also, if you need voices, I'd be glad to assist! (networkin')

VAing is waaaaaaaaay down the pike, but we definitely want people in on this when we put together our episodes. If you know anyone else that would be interested in VAing for an X Series Anime, please feel free to let them know! (Networkin')

*just squeed in joy* YAY we have our first VA!!!!!!!! XDDDDDD this makes me so freakin' gleeful it's not funny. XD
Yah, it's MikuMikuDance. It has it's limitations (each model has to be below 63000 some odd polygons) and it's not as detailed as Maya / Blender / 3D studio Max but, it's free and it allows so many varieties of action it's not funny.. Metal found a 20 MINUTE FIGHT SCENE (Touhou characters - just look up 'Bad Apple' on Youtube and you'll see what I mean) and it was done ENTIRELY in MMD.
And, @ ZeroFG Mu..
Did some research on that program.. There's nothing wrong with doing a mix of art and our MMD models for our openings... There's some video programming I need to DL and install anyway (I forget the name but it's a major one- my sister and her husband used it for one of our stupid 'behind the pixels' videos and shizz... anyway....) .. but that allows Green Screen and, that image I put up of myself as an MMD model? I totally photoshopped the blue sky part. When I made the image file, it made the BG transparent, so, I could feasibly use this to make GIFs too if that helps. o_o;;;
We will figure it out and we will make this thing a project of win. ^_^
