I think most of us can agree that Hideo Kojima has made some really amazing games, and I'm always excited to hear what he'll be working on next. But what I wanted to start off asking was, does anyone else think it would nice to see more, other than Metal Gear from him? Not saying I'm getting tired of it, but I'm interested what else he can make up. Though I also watched a play through of Snatcher, that was really good as well.

That is why he has wanted to 'not' have to work with MGS anymore. He has tried to wing himself from the project for other adventures. He even announced he was working on something 'controversial' last year (Doubt anything came from it). But the last I knew, he had ideas for the next MGS but he said he wanted the team to come up with something. For if they choose his idea, then he has to get involved again, which is what he doesn't want.

I want to see what his 'controversial' project was, if it is still coming.

I haven't heard of this 'controversial' project Kojima mentioned. But now that I've looked it up, I'm quite interested in what he meant. for him to think that if it goes for the worst, he'll have to quite? I mean, he must have been thinking of something really risky, or extremely heavy. But none the less, I'm anxious about it. Though giving that it was almost two years ago, the odds of hearing it again are slim.. Sadly

Though I did hear of him wanting to stop around MGS2 or the third, is that true? because that would have left a huge cliff hanger.

Yeah. Since MGS2 he has wanted to wing himself from it and leave the bigger decisions to his team. But that hasn't happened yet. He wanted to focus more on other projects, Zone of the Enders, and I think Boktai/Lunar Knights as well for other projects.

To be honest, I think that Kojima likely wanted to tell a different story with MGS2, but them being forced to use Raiden changed all that.

Well Zechs, knowing that, it almost makes me feel kinda hypocritical. I'm glad he stayed at least up to MGS4. I haven't played Peace Walker, so I can't really speak for that.

It's true that the story was going to be really different during the development of the game. But I believe it was for different reasons. one of them is (If what I looked up is true) it was because of certain events, that were taking place in the area they had originally planned for the game's story to start at. Not because of being forced to use Raiden.

Shouldn't feel that way, your want is what he has been attempting. At least it is refreshing for him (I would think) when others feel the same way he does.

Raiden's character was developed out of some form of survey Konami conducted to the younger audience and they found that more frequent notions were from younger female I think (could be wrong but a survey was conducted that led to Raiden). Unknown who decided to use such survey as a development device, but it would have been a reason to rewrite MGS2 from what was originally done. Not to mention portions being edited out due to 9/11 (a simple 'reporter' clip being the most notable before Arsenal crashed).

You're most likely right on that. If I was him, I would be glad to know there's people that want what could be best.

I had forgotten about that. probably should have added some of that to my other post (how Raiden came to be) Since what you say is true. But every time I read about it, I'm always fascinated with it, especially on the changes of his past. Like originally I read that his father was going to resemble Solidus, and also was going to be killed in an accident. I'm very interested in how that would have went. Either way, I loved the end result in his creation.

Speaking of MGS2 in particular, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, did anyone else here notice Solidus seems to say something to Raiden?
