Author's Note: Hey guys, this is a little experiment of mine. It's a fictional story I made, but with the added twist of allowing YOU, the forum, to influence the main character's path. I would appreciate it if you guys participate in this little forum game, as there's a surprise waiting for you at the end of this adventure.
Without further ado, let's begin.
----------------
Chapter 1: Awake
As you carefully open your eyes, the rays of light blur your vision. After a few seconds they finally adjust to your surroundings. You wake up to find that you are in some kind of laboratory. It seems to be abandoned, as there is nothing in sight except for a single door in front of you. But before you can figure out where you are, you should focus on figuring out who you are.
What is your name?

>Mega Man
But suddenly, memories of a familiar video game character flash through your head. It seems that a fragment of your memory still exists; you apparently used to love video games in the past. But remembering your favorite video game doesn't help your identity much. For dignity's sake, you decide to adopt the name "Mega Man" until you finally figure out who you are.
Now then, let's put our focus on the present situation. You have to figure out where you are, and how to get out of this lab.
>Enter a Command.

Author's Note: Man...this thread needs more people to join in.
Anyways, I think I've gotten myself an update schedule for this. I'm probably going to update every day or so. Also, whenever I continue the story, I try to accept as many commands entered as possible. The only exception I make is when two or more people's commands are similar to each other, then I just choose the one command that I find suitable. Anyways, see you guys later.

You attempt to get up and walk towards the door in order to reach these so-called "city streets", only to find out that you are incapable of movement in your current state. Further inspection reveals that five giant wires have been jammed into your back, connecting yourself to what appears to be some kind of life-support device. You come to the conclusion that this machine is the reason for your paralysis, and judging from the fact that it's most certainly keeping you alive right now, it's probably best not to tamper with it.
So everything except your face is incapable of movement, and there's nothing in this room that is of use to escape from here. But wait, listening closely you can hear voices coming from the other room. This place is not abandonded after all..

Yes, you are paralyzed, and yes, there are voices coming from the room. Instead of just dwelling about it, you should actually try and do something about it.
>Call out: Hello? Hello? is anyone there?
The voices in the room suddenly stop. After a brief pause, one of the voices exclaim, "Has the second patient already awakened? But the vaccine isn't supposed to wear off until a couple more hours!"
Footsteps can be heard coming towards the room. You see the door in front of you open, as a man wearing some kind of protective armor and a helmet approaches you. The helmeted man looks down upon you, with a seemingly fascinated expression. You don't know whether to feel scared or relieved at this point. Is he friend or foe?
"I'm terribly sorry that you had to wake up in this condition. You were dying when we found you, and this was the only way to possibly heal you in your current condition," the helmeted man finally said.
All you could do is keep that blank expression on your face, unsure of what to respond to that.
"In case you were curious, you were infected with what is known as 'Myrtenza'," the man continued, "It is a deadly virus that tampers with your body once it gets inside you. It was attacking your bloodstream, so we've connected you to this machine to inject anti-bodies that will destroy the virus and filter your veins and arteries with new blood."
You seem puzzled by the helmeted man's explanation.
"Now the question is, who are you, and how did that virus get inside your systems?" he asked.
You respond by saying your name is Mega Man, and quickly explain about your sudden amnesia.
"So you can't remember anything, huh? I was hoping this wouldn't have happened," said the helmeted man, "The Myrtenza virus must have gotten into your brain and wiped out most of your memories before we were able to kill it. Memory loss is a common symptom...it's a shame, because I had so many questions to ask you about your previous life. I've never been face-to-face with a human before."
Never been face-to-face with a human before?, you think to yourself, Then what...
"Oh! Where are my manners?" The man interrupted, removing his helmet. And much to your surprise, the man you were speaking to turns out to be some kind of green, three-eyed creature. Clearly you are not on the home planet your faded memory remembers.
"I am Doctor Zarg of the Epsilon Freedom Fighters. It's an honour to meet you, Mega Man." the alien said.
"If there's anything you need to ask about what's exactly going on right now, please go ahead."

"Year? Well, it is the 15110th solar eclipse date, but most planets stopped counting the number of years long ago..." Doctor Zarg replied.
"...As for your location, you are in the East Medical Sector of the Epsilon Docking Bay. You see, here at Epsilon, we are a peace-keeping force in the galaxy with the intent goal of creating unity between all extra-terrestrial species. This docking bay is where various species come together to heal, take shelter, repair any broken ships, and purchase the food they need for the upcoming journey ahead of them. Nowadays, the galaxy is full of Bounty Hunters, and it's our job to make sure they get they get the support they need and put a stop to any crimes that occur around here. It truly is a peaceful time in the galaxy."
The Epsilon Docking Bay. A peace-keeping force in the galaxy. It seems you are in good hands...for now at least.
Doctor Zarg grinned. "Man, today's been quite interesting. At first I thought humans were extinct, but then suddenly, we discover not one, but TWO humans alive here. With you being the second one, of course."
So apparently, humans are extinct at this point. That won't help much when it comes to learning your past, but there's still hope since Doctor Zarg implied that there is another human around here too. That should be worth taking a look at.
"Mega Man, I know that this is alot to take in right now." Doctor Zarg said, "But don't be too worried. I'm sure you'll get the hang of things around here in a couple of days. Also, I know you want to remove this life-support system, but I'm afraid you'll have to wait a couple more hours until your blood is fully filtered. In the meantime, is there anything else you would like to ask before I get back to work?"

Humans... you said they are extinct? But you found two?

"Yes, humans were wiped out centuries ago. It was quite a tragedy. It all happened during a time where the humans' planet, known as Earth, was enduring through a period of environmental and economical disaster. The humans were abusing so much of their planet's resources that the ecosystem was dying, and they were desperate for a solution for their problem.
Then along come the alien species known as Xerax, who decided to strike a wager with the humans. They would provide the technology needed to help heal the planet and give them a chance to start anew, and in return the humans would share their most advanced weapons technology with them. It seemed like a fair enough deal, so the humans accepted. But unfortunately, the Xerax weren't as co-operative as they had thought...
As you obviously do not know, the Xerax are very strict about keeping balance in nature, as if it were like a religion to them. They believed that humans were a selfish, ignorant species that were unworthy of taking care of a precious planet like Earth. So as soon as the Xerax were given the weapon technology from the humans, they began a full-scale assault on the planet. The humans were completely taken off-guard by the Xerax's change of heart. Despite their efforts at fighting back against them, the humans were completely overwhelmed by the Xerax's MK-23 Soldiers, robotic infantry with highly advanced AI. Thanks to their knowledge of the humans weaponry, the Xerax easily gained the upper hand and Earth was finally conquered. All traces of human life were eradicated, and the planet was claimed as their own. It truly was the greatest tragedy in the Galaxy.
Anyways, to make a long story short, the Galactic Council didn't approve of such savage behaviour, another war broke out between Epsilon and the Xerax, and we ended up victorious. All surviving Xerax inhabitants were taken into Epsilon and they now work alongside us, leaving their cruel mistakes in the past. No humans were ever seen again after that incident. That is until early this morning, when a mysterious pod crashed into our landing deck, containing you and some other human. We immeadiately discovered the Myrtenza virus inside you guys, so we proceeded to heal you."
So you got here from a space pod. And apparently another human was with you, whom you have no memory of, as expected.
Suddenly another alien similar in apperance to Doctor Zarg walked into the room.
"Doctor, the first patient is ready for interrogation."
Doctor Zarg smiled. "Well, it looks like your human companion has finally awakened. Let's hope she has knowledge of your past. Anyways, I'm going to go check on her now, you wait here until the life-support system finishes its work."
>Could I have a book, or something to pass the time? If I am going to be here a few hours, I might as well pass the time productively...
"Well, there's a television here, if you want to watch it. Here." Doctor Zarg pressed a button, revealing a TV screen on the side of the room, playing some kind of action movie. Since you've got nothing else to do, you decide to watch it.
"If you need anything, come and see me in room 3E. It's just around the corner from here." Zarg informed as he left the room.
----------------
2 hours later...
Suddenly, a clicking noise can be heard from behind you. Almost instantly, all the wires connected to your back are retracted out of your skin and back into the machine. After a couple of service droids patch up the wounds left from the wires, you can feel your paralysis fading away. You can finally move.
Now then, which room did Doctor Zarg say to meet him in? 3E. Ah, that's it. You can start going there if you wish.

You find the remote, pressing the big red button on it, and thus shutting the television screen off. Even some of the simplest 20th century technology is still around, it seems.
Following the directions Zarg gave you, you reach Room 3E and meet up with the benevolent doctor himself.
"Mega Man, its good to see that you've recovered properly," he welcomed, "And just in time, too. We need your help."
Doctor Zarg pointed his green, bony finger towards a doorway similar to the one you just came out of.
"Your human friend is in that room. Unfortunately, she seems to be rather stubborn and refuses to answer any of our questions. Maybe if you talked to her, she would give you the information you need about your past. You don't mind, right?"
Considering that she's the only other human left, you decide to enter the room and meet this girl, hoping that she has any knowledge of who you are.
Upon entering the room, you find the girl sitting down on a patient bed, with a blank expression on her face. She appears to be the same age as you. She has long black hair, and bright blue eyes. Her pale face looks up at you oddly. She doesn't seem to recognize you, as she is not saying anything, she just continues to stare at you. Then finally, she blinks and looks back down. You have no idea who she is. And yet, you feel as if you've known her your whole life.

The girl's bright blue eyes gaze up at you once again. She frowns, but doesn't say a word. She just continues to stare, as if she's trying to read you or something. Then finally you hear her murmuring.
"You're not like the others...are you...?"

And big thanks to R_B for this:

"No."

The girl's eyes darted around the room, and then back at you. A relieved look appeared on her face.
"I don't trust the other people here. But you...you're just like me. Human."
You inform the girl that the aliens here are completely trustworthy, and that there's no other choice at the moment but to co-operate with them. You also ask her if she has any knowledge of who you are and where you came from.
The girl frowned again. "I'm sorry...I can't remember anything...not even my own identity..."
It seems that she has also been affected by the Myrtenza virus. She has no memory of who she is, either.
You introduce yourself, and tell her all about Epsilon and the apparent fate of the human race. The girl nods, and decides to accompany you, at least until you both get a better grasp at the current situation.
On that same note, you should probably give your new companion a name.

Author's Note: Thanks for sorting things out here, Twilight Sword.
