So hey uhh. Sorry to make my introduction to your community with something like this but eh.

Also I'm not sure this is exactly the right place to put something like this but I read the rules and poked around a bit and this seemed like as good a place as any really. Apologies to the staff around here if not.

Anyhow, getting to the point. I searched your members and failed to find a guy named "londonbreksa", either because he's got a different name here, isn't here anymore, was never here to begin with, or I'm retarded and dicked something up when searching.

Reason this person is important is mainly because of this video.



It appears to be some sort of shoddy promotion for MegaMan X9 (your site here and possibly a game?)

Stuff like this is common on the internet and poses no problem, except for at 1:24 there's a cute little image that's displayed for several seconds.



The sprite on the bottom right, with the wonky black aura, was a villain I used in an old sprite comic like a bajillion years ago. It's a pretty lame sprite but eh, I was like 15 whatever that's not the point.

I left a silly passive-aggressive comment ("I like the part where you used my sprite without permission.") and got on with my day. You won't see that comment though because the user in question deleted my comment, left quite the nasty comment in response, then blocked me.


This is kinda dumb because I don't really care about the old sprite that's kinda crappy, nor do I particularly care about retards on YouTube. I've just had a really really bad week, and an even worse day, so part of me is hoping that if this guy is a member of this site (an assumption I made due to him promoting it), bringing this to the community's attention and getting him punished or at least squeezing an apology out of him will make me feel a little better. :P

Not that I really expect anyone around here to care about my problems. Just thought I'd give it a shot~

Firstly, welcome.

The one to the left of yours is also stolen. I dunno who actually made it, but it was intended for and still in use by the member Zero_v2.0.

That art at the very end on the right was also stolen. It was made by the member Arby Works for the Armour Contest.

And the song itself is from Newgrounds Audio Portal, also without any credit given.

Now, given he hasn't directly violated the rules of the forum, I don't really have much reason to take action against him, sorry. You could try messaging him directly on here. I'll be sure to also bring it to the attention of Arby and Zv2 if they don't see this already.

Also thanks for your civility. As an administrator of another site/forum myself I guess I can understand not taking action if he hasn't actually violated any of the forum's rules.

I also feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one he jacked sprites/artwork/everything from. :P

And furthermore I appreciate you linking me to his profile. I don't know why I didn't think to check his YouTube profile initially. Just been one of those days I guess.

I may write him a message tomorrow when my mood has improved (to assure civility on my end.) I'd hate to come busting in here and acting like a tool, I try and make a good first impression when I enter a community. :P

Even if I don't write him though I guess I could be happy with anyone else seeing this and at least thinking he's a douche.

Someone else on here took a sprite from the site Nightmare. Techno I think was the name. Its a Dynamo body with ProtoMan's head and recolored. Bossman made it.

And this is the reason why we don't steal people's work. But yeah, it's pretty disturbing that this user was using people's stuff off of Mega Man X9's website. I'm pretty sure there's an option to remove copyrighted images off of YouTube, but I will post the link later on.

Well, I meant the stolen work, not copyright. People are free to draw anything that it's fanart, but people shouldn't steal someone's work and claiming it was theirs.

The first instances I ever saw of Mega Man community image theft was with Mandi Paugh's artwork on The Mega Man Homepage. Even as far as to see it used for shirts on eBay! So if stolen material is used for something like that, there would be need for alarm and action. They would be making money with YOUR art. However if it's only videos and things on the net, I wouldn't be too worried. The word copyright is used pretty loosely though. For example, ZV2's Blue Zero sprite is only an edit, he didn't make it from scratch. So the rights to that sprite are still solely owned by Capcom, I'm guessing. I mean, I made an entire cover art for VGboxart.com of the Watchmen game and I saw my fan cover used to sell the game on eBay. I was flattered because I guess that meant the seller thought it was the real deal, but kinda irked. Since I didn't know it was used in a monetary or malicious way, I wasn't worried about it.

My beef with this guy is more on principal than alleged copyright issues or the like.

He took something I made (albeit a pretty lame thing I made) and used it for a video on YouTube neither crediting me nor asking for my permission. Then proceeded to insult me.

The problem could have been as simple as "Oh sorry, I'll credit you in the description." Or even him just ignoring me, since I really didn't care that bad and that would have been that. But instead he was a bit of a raging douche, so I'm kinda blowing it out of proportion a little. :P


Regardless, I sent him a message on the forum here politely requesting that he either credit me in his video or remove it. I guess we'll see what happens next, as I still haven't received a reply.
