Everything about Sonic is copied from MegaMan. I will make it simple.

Shadow=Bass- This is just sad. Just like Bass, Shadow was made to be the better version of his rival.

Shadow=Zero- This is just WORST. His story is so more similar to Zero. The one made to kill Sonic. His mystery like attitude is so more like Zero.

Dr. Eggman=Dr. Wily Do I need to explain this?

Sonic=MegaMan Sure both are blue.

Tales=Rush Tales is used to help Sonic travel at times in the games similar to Rush Jet, but less effective.

Knuckles=ProtoMan/Zero Knuckles seems to be Sonic's handy ally in tough spots.

Sonic is not original at all. The basic layout screams MegaMan. It's like when people make RPG games and mock the Final Fantasy basic layout for the characters.

Good eye, harsh comment bro.Literally every franchise is influenced from each other in some ways.And the term rip-off is a harsh word in gaming.Especially for a game which is considered to be a classic by many.

They took some ideas from megaman.So what?I think that shows the richness of megaman in terms of story and roster and this is something to be proud of in my book.

I'm pretty sure Mega Man is far from the first series to have an anti-hero rival, cute sidekick, evil mad scientist and tough ally. For the matter I'd say Sonic "ripped off" Dragon Ball more than Mega Man (7 mystic objects, super forms with spiky golden hair, etc etc). But I wouldn't so much as call the latter a "rip off" and more of an homage/shout out.

Really though, I don't think things like character personalities and roles are as important as the core gameplay in this case, which Sonic definitely didn't rip off of Mega Man.

We have our main hero, Fox McCloud (Mega Man)

The lone ranger of the group, Falco Lombardi (Proto Man)

The Mechanic, Slippy Toad (Auto)

Krystal the back supporter of Fox (Roll)

Beltino Toad, the assistant scientist to the Coernerian Army and Starfox team (Dr. Cossack)


Peppy Hare, the old timer of the group (Dr. Light)

Wolf O' Donnell, Fox's main rival (Bass)

Andross, Mad scientist (Dr. Wily)

I know some of the characters have more, and some have less characteristics. Also, I know Falco and Krystal are not Fox's brother and sister, but Falco really does fit the roll of Proto Man in that bad ass atitude, and Krystal...well...somewhat like Roll, always backing Fox as Roll would back Mega Man. Wolf O' Donnell is a rival, but not really an enemy anymore sort of like how Bass isn't really that badd of a guy either. Slippy and Auto are two short fat green guys who are mechanics. Beltino, Slippy's father helps the Starefox team out, as Dr. Cossack helps out the Mega team,Peppy seems to guide the Starfox team as Dr. Light would guide the Mega team. Fox fits the role of Mega Man as the main hero. Andross is a mad ape scientist who is defeated, but always somehow comes back for more, just like Dr. Wily is and does.
