Free stuff is good, but it doesn't matter what we get for free if we can't use it. I just want PSN back up

*sigh* Apparently Sony has their own Al-Qaeda to deal with.
They say they're almost done with the system restoration, but the lack of a timetable for this doesn't get me excited.

Big kudos to elreyjgz!

Pfft. 'Al-Qaeda' my ass. This is just retaliation for Sony intentionally hiding the fact that personal information got stolen from them, and waited until six whole days after the fact to let the victims know, all in order to save face. They simply went ahead and declared it up front so that Sony couldn't pretend it didn't happen again, and to shine a big, freakin' spotlight on Sony's shitty policies and how meaningless it is for Sony to inconvenience their users with patches and updates that serve no other purpose than to let Sony bully its customers and make people who legitimately bought games have to deal with legal issues because Sony's shitty security protocols label non-pirated games as pirated copies, when it's as easy to get past Sony's security as they've already shown. Not to mention all of Sony's own underhanded tactics that they utilized in the case of Geohotz, many of which are identical to the ones being used against Sony by the hackers.
Seriously, nagging and bitching when a company that practices scheming, bullying, and borderline illegal tactics in order to cow and force their customers into doing what they want gets its comeuppance just makes you part of the problem, not the solution.

Just thought I'd say that the PSN store is back online today. The welcome back package is probably going to be activated after E3.
Reese: Point your gun at me again, and I'll shoot you with it.

Even though everything is back to "normal" for the PSN, thought this news might be kinda useful to some:
