[Vash arrives from The Underground - Ezekiel's Warehouse]
A large air bus slowly zooms past the gates of the Melda Ore Plant. The flying vehicle then softly lands in a bed of snow, just 100 yards away from the facility. The door's swished opened as a samurai-knight like reploid stepped out. He quickly observe his surroundings to familiarize himself in order to adapt to the cold harsh environment; scanning the field with his new eye...Moments later, within the blanket of snow, he spots tiny foot prints about the size of an infants lightly pressed against the flakes of ice. He realizes that his mission is no walk in the park, "Great just great, Gun Bits and Rabbids just what I needed...more annoying little mechanicaloids" Vash said in an upsetting tone.
Soon he marched off towards the facility's gates as he holds onto his swords, ready for the unexpected from the deep white snow.

As Vash was approaching near the steel fence, he unsheathe Agni the fire sword. He tightly grips the sword's handle; igniting the blade into a thin stream of flames. Then he raises his weapon high above his head, ready to slice 'n burn pieces of the fence to enter through. In his mind however, he was slightly hesitant about slashing the gate open, remembering about the Gun Bits and Rabbids that probably stay hidden in the snow. "Darn...if only I knew the layout of this area. Those Mechanicaloids could be triggered by an alarm if I bust this fence up" Vash thought.
He shook his head to recollect his thoughts, remembering not to hold back this time around. "Come on Vash get it together here.." he said to himself. He quickly slashes a very small portion of the fence as a wide arc of fire slices and burns through the gate. The opening was small enough for a normal size human to crawl through; creating this will hopefully allow him to bypass the security cameras....Vash then sheathe Agni back and crouches to enter the front yard of the facility.

He thought as much as a previous group of reploids would some how have something to do with the area's security system. And with that, luck was on his side today, but Vash wouldn't linger on such superstition or would he? Soon Vash pressed forth while sheathing Agni away, but kept his hand near the blades grip in case of those annoying rabbit-like robots might jump on him. As he walked around the front yard to layout a map, a weak echoing chime came from within his body, causing him to stop out of curiosity. The tiny air vents traced beneath his armpit area and chest breathed excessive hot air from his Xenothium energy; his reactor core doubling the power thus heating him up.
His body was attempting to adapt to the arctic environment to fight off cold to keep him functioning. It surprised him a little, however, Xenothium energy will be too dangerous when it gets super-heated. "No, why is it doing this? It was never designed to do that!!! Vash thought. So he began to rush towards the Melda Ore Plant so his reactor core could cut it's own power in half before the core breaches through by the heat and burns through his armor. Vash later see's the large steel door, closing in on it fast.

A tiny burst blasted at his chest, knocking him close to the ground while dropping his sword to his side. "Damn that smarts.." Vash painfully whispered, feeling minor irritation within his chest armor. The Gun Bits and Rabbids continued to hop towards their target to finish the job, but Vash reacted by unsheathing another sword of his from backside and wildly swings the blade, beheading the miniature mechaniloids. Their bodies fell in mid-hop, their chase ends. . .Vash slowly gets up while dusting the snow off. He shrugs off the pain on his chest, it was only a scratch to the surface from the mechanloids attack.
He picked up his dropped weapon and continued his way through the door but quickly gazes back at the defeated bots, "They were behind the door the whole time? Were they waiting for me to come?..." he thought. Vash then enters the facility, "The security system is probably still intact...I wonder if anyone is still monitoring the place?". He ponders on the idea for a moment but it doesn't cloud his mind. . .In the facility it was cold like steel, the corridors deep and all nearly identical as if anyone can get lost even with a GPS system. He took caution and proceed through.
The Xenothium Energy Core within his chest suddenly began to cool down, returning back to it's original state. The power core was adapting to the environment again. Vash felt relief when he feels that his systems stopped heating up, "I hope it never do that again" he says. He then came across an elevator at end of the hall. He looks down upon it, ready to press a button: B1, but hesitates making sure he doesn't get lost within the area.

Later he finally reaches the first basement floor, the door opens. He steps out with his weapons ready, he pans his eyes slowly to the left, nothing but very identical hallways in every corner. Vash quickly pans to the right, still the same hallways as before. Confused with a questionable brow lifted, he lifts his forearm and presses a few buttons to open his transmitter to contact The Merchant. The screen on his forearm lit up brightly but only a fuzzy display was shown while static-like noise crackled within his arm.
Vash grins his teeth, upset that this facility must be producing some sort of jamming signal. He shuts his transmitter off. "Why would a place like this be left unattended would cut off communication? How in the world do they maintain force metals on a regular basis?" he carefully thought. Vash quickly grows suspicious about this facility, feeling uncomfortable on this mission but he must do this in order to receive the "supplies" he needs dearly; Vash must collect those "special force metals."
He soon looks back at the hallways, there was so many of them, each and everyone all looked alike. He scratches his head for a moment, unsure which route to take. Vash looks back at his status screen on his forearm, taps a few buttons to access a map for the area. The screen softly flickered, and reading "access denied." He slams his fist on a nearby wall, "This is gonna be a lot harder than I thought. . .Man if only Ezekiel was here, he had the whole place mapped out before we got here." he says to himself.
Vash then takes a random path on the northern side of the facility, going into the unknown.

Finally reaching the end of the northern area, a large vault reinforced with force-metal smothered by a thick layer of ice. The hallway is partly covered in darkness but there was thin florescent lights shining dimly above him. He thinks for a second, "There better be some force-metals in there" he thought while his armor is being slowly consume by frost from the freezing air. Vash quickly glared at his air vent located underneath his chest sternum, an icy fog was breathing from it but fog's size was gradually decreasing due to the rising temperature of the Xenothium, a good sign towards Vash however. "Wha? the Xenothium heat is slowing down, in this area?...but why?" he questioned himself. Rather than ponder about this, he takes this opportunity instead so he recalculates the timing for his 'shut down' since this particular part of the area bought him some extra time. "15 more minutes huh? Well its better than no minutes I suppose" says Vash as he now has 35 min. to get the hell out of here.
He then focuses on the vault and unsheathes Agni the fire sword and Gaia the earth sword. Vash then taps the tip of each sword together rapidly to get some energy flowing within his weapons. Agni turned red hot as Gaia becomes earthly green, they were powering up. And within seconds his blades were ready, so Vash takes a step back and formed an X cross and shouts, "Magma Wave!!" as he vertically slashes towards the ground, creating a molten wave of thick fire. However since there were no minerals or rock in his vicinity for his Gaia sword to use, the Magma Wave attack power was greatly reduce, but Vash hopes that the combined powers of these 2 weapons will at least inflict some damage on the vault.
The Magma Wave attack smashes at the vault, as the fire swarmed over the ice causing it to melt completely. He quickly rushes towards the vault, not wanting to waste anymore energy with another special attack. Vash then slashes at the vault with all his might, but only sparks produced by his sword attack. His eyes widen and stares at the vault with disbelief, "Dammit, what the hell!? Just how strong is this door anyways!?" he shouts. Vash realizing this door is made up of force-metal he soon analyzes the structure to figure a way to open it up.

Vash then grabs both ends of the vault's long steel-like handles and attempts to twist it open with all of his might. His grips tighten as his wrist twist ‘n curves with every struggle but to no avail. This force-metal made vault is a lot tougher than it looks he thought. Vash folds his arms to think of a strategy, "If only if I had Ezekiel's monstrous strength" he wished. He later takes his swords and slides them within the tiny locks of the vault's side, using his weapons as a crowbar. Vash stomps the vault and reels back to pry the barrier opened. He grits his teeth while his blade bent back by a half a centimeter....After a few minutes, the door didn't even budge, not even a millimeter.
"What would I give for some explosives right about now, or a sword made out of force-metals be a lot better" Vash said to himself. He looks back at his timer, "27 minutes left, hehe if only I had the power to stop time" he says sarcastically, making light of his deadly situation. Moments later the ceiling lights flickered brightly for a split second, he looks up distractingly. Suddenly his surrounding area caught his attention, he notices that the dimmed lights and narrow hallway appeared a little different than the other identical hallways. This area seemed to be too small for storage space, knowing refined force metals need large rooms. He carefully stares back at the vault out of suspicion, Vash realizes that this vault wasn't for store anything in, but to keep something from coming out.
All of a sudden, a gleaming bright light can be seen flashing beyond the surrounding vault. Something has activated on the other side of the door. Vash takes a quick step back, finally realizing he had unleashed something that shouldn't be disturbed. He readies his weapons in case whatever it is on the other side could pop out and attack him. . . .The vault slowly opens as the bolts creaked. Soon a high tone yet cartoon(ish) voice came from behind the vault, "How dare you disturb my slumber you imbecile delinquent!!!" said the stranger's voice.
The being slowly steps out from the shadows, it appeared to be a bipedal hybrid of a spiked headed duck and a mole-like creature wielding a spiked red hammer as it's weapon. However, the creature is more reploid than it is organic, having a strange drill for a tail and a stocky build of body armor with a short height to boot. The reploid began to swing his weapon in a careless yet derange manner while his eyes was dead set on Vash with furious anger, ""Ready to tangle with Duckbill Mole?!" he taunted.
Vash then takes a huge gulp, picking up tremendous energy readings from this foe alone. Vash becomes nervous, unsure on how to deal with such a powerful reploid because he always had Ezekiel to back him up. But he stood his ground to see if this eccentric character will make the first move.

Vash wobbled off balance, and in moments underneath Vash's feet, a circular reddish-orange glow of energy began to sprout. Vash's lower leg armor started to sizzle, then the energy grew brighter and redder as he stands on it unnoticed. He looks at his feet, finally feeling some intense heat building up for the past second. "What the--?" Before he could finished his sentence, a column of red hot fire explodes from the ground, engulfing Vash in a fury of flames. "AAHHH" he cried while waling his arms wildly in pain. Vash quickly fell to his knees, weakened by the blast. The fire continued to burn through his armored skin, but he clinches his fist in anger, he couldn't withstand the thought of death in cold dark facility like this.
DuckBill Mole laughs at the injured reploid who had taste of one of his signature moves. The creature's pot belly shakes as he laughs, "HAHA...Such a nuisance you are!" said DuckBill, he points at his opponent with his spike hammer, "Can't even take a hit either? HA!! What a joke." He then points at himself, implying like he's superior than anyone else, "You gotta learn how to take a lot of punishment to take on the big leagues!"
As the enemy reploid babbles his way, the fire around Vash slowly began to shrink, thanks to the cool yet dry air this section of the facility has to offer. He then struggles to get up but there was still small ounces of flames pressing him down, the burning damage prevented him from using his full strength. The Quake Hammer attack from DuckBill was incredible, almost taking a skilled combatant reploid such as Vash down with just one strike. But he wasn't going to give up just yet, so he swiftly unsheathes Poseidon, the water sword with two hands. He flashes out the sword and hacks downward at the air, "TORRENT SPLITTER!!" Vash shouts.
"Huh?" says DuckBill with a dumbfounded look in his face.
Using what little moisture around him, the slashing motion from his blade formed a vertical whirling pool of water out of the air. Vash only had seconds to jump in before the cold air freezes it up. The reploid dashes right through, splashing into the water to dissipate the fire away. Steam blew from two elemental reactions, but there was left over water. Then the cool temperature air takes over and the liquid suddenly freezes all over his body, creating an extremely thin layer of ice but it wasn't enough to hinder his movements. . .Vash then swings the Poseidon sword at his backside as he grins at the enemy.
DuckBill rubs his chin, intrigued by the creativeness of his opponent, "Ah ha! Pretty clever. Making armor out of ice...But that won't protect you for long!!" as he shakes his fist.
"Damn he's pretty perceptive" Vash thought. He looks down at his wrist to check out his Xenothium Energy readings, noticing a blink red dotted light "Great...The power is rising again since I'm in combat mode. I won't last long in this fight" He then takes a good look at himself using the reflection of his blade,"This thin armor of ice is only good for 1 fire attack. Once that's gone, I better come up with something quick or else I'm done for" Vash whispers to himself. The two forces stare down at each other, seeing what move they'll do next.

"I don't have time for a staring contest!!" DuckBill impatiently shouts. He shakes his spike hammer, ready for another slam.
"First one to blink, loses!!" Vash jokingly replied while sprinting towards the enemy. He hugs himself as he wields both of his swords in his hands while leaning his upper body and legs near the ground, shaping his body like a bullet.
DuckBill squeezes his weapon tight and strikes the ground once more for a Quake Hammer attack, but this time forming an even longer line of fury red energy on the floor thus increasing his chances of catching his prey. Vash, recognizing how this "Quake Hammer" maneuver functions, just heads towards the attack itself anyways. Knowing that his weak ice armor won't protect much, it's a chance he'll have to take. "HIYA!!!" Vash shouts with pride. He dives into the long erupting column of fire, causing the icicle armor to quickly evaporate from the intense heat, but since armored layers wasn't thick enough, it soon burned and charred the surface of his armored skin.
DuckBill grins with pleasure as his opponent was completely incinerated by the flames, "Ha ha!! What a fool, no one can survive--
"Think again!" Vash interrupted, bursting out of the inferno. Vash tackles at DuckBill and cross slashes at him in the chest with the Agni and Poseidon blades.
"WAAAA!!!" DuckBill cried while loosing his balance from the surprise attack. A illuminating green crystal shard from his chest flung into the air by the sword slash, he also drops his hammer in the process.
As for Vash, he recklessly tumbles into the ground and crashes into the wall on his backside. "OH!!" he cries. The fire he recently dash through moderately damaged him, but luckily his ice armor reduce some of that, otherwise he would of be burnt to a crisp without it. Now behind the enemy he has the advantage, but Vash was too weakened by the fire and using up most of his energies from the battle. He stabs the ground with his swords, using it as a cane to lift himself up. "Uh ooo, ugh..Can't believe that worked" says Vash, surprised by that stupid tactic.
While DuckBill cries like a child from the pain, Vash notices a greenish shard near the creature; it was ominously glowing with great energy. It's green light was warm and intense, feeling a rapid river of energy coursing though Vash's circuits. "That must be a force-metal! He's probably using it to channel his powers!" he thought. And without hesitation, he leaps for the shard in desperation and quickly shoves it down into his side pocket. Vash then looks back at DuckBill who is now recovering from the pain, thinking it be a great opportunity to strike the foe, but understands that he himself, Vash, is not the type of person to strike a person from behind and especially who is unarmed.
"I'm just gonna call it a day and get the hell out of here. I got what I wanted" Vash whispered to himself. Even though his assignment was to gather a "case full" of them, this type of danger is not worth it. He then sheathe his weapons away, but realizes he's cornered within the vault.
DuckBill stares back at Vash with vicious fury and anger, "You're gonna pay for that weakling!!!" DuckBill picks up his hammer and waddles, attempting to turn around.
Vash raises a brow, noticing how slow the creature moves and how long it'll take from him to face the enemy."This is too good to be true, he's all power with no speed!" he happily thought, "If I've known that sooner, I'd be outta here in a blink of an eye!" Soon Vash dashes at DuckBill who readies his hammer, but Vash smiles at him, knowing what will come up next.

Vash holding onto his chest while sheathing his weapons, "I'm not gonna lie to ya, you're one powerful reploid. Fighting you alone is suicide" he says, using these words as a distraction to buy time for an exit. DuckBill still turning around was having trouble regaining his balance, his short stubby legs and flat webbed feet makes it even harder for him to face Vash. "Look, it's obvious a guy like you can beat me to a bloody pulp with no sweat but I'm just an ordinary reploid looking for some scrap metal to recycle. I don't want any trouble pal" said Vash. He then slide his left foot and lifts his right hind foot, ready to take off.
DuckBill points his hammer at his foe who is halfway there, "Lies!!! What kind of labor-reploid carries swords!?" he angrily shouts.
Vash quickly takes off the ground, dashing towards DuckBill. But the reddish reploid twirls his hammer around, going for a critical blow. DuckBill horizontally swings with fury as his opponent nears, but Vash baseball slides under the attack thanks to the cold slippery floor. He then dives out of the vault with ease, and gets up in haste, "Fast reploid that's what!!" Vash yells back.
"IMPOSSIBLE!!!" DuckBill cried, surprised by Vash's speed.
Outside, Vash grabs hold of the vault but it's megaton weight was far too much for him to push so he jumps and dropkicks the vault door with all his might. The door slams shut causing a loud clashing bang of metal. Vash then drops to the floor, but quickly pops up to make his escape. He runs through the long dark hallways and jumps back to the elevator while smashing the button to activate it, thus making his way to the first floor. He soon felt tired because he depleted most of his energies from the battle with DuckBill and this harsh environment, but he remained focus as he was almost home free. "Finally..." he takes out the green shard and stares at his new reward,"It may not be a cache full of force-metal but getting this from 'him' gotta be worth more than a few S-class reploids.."
The elevator stops at the first floor, Vash steps out and drags himself towards the exit. Outside, a heavy blizzard rushed in his face, the thick snowflakes smacking against his eyes and cheeks, hindering his vision and making it hard to track down the Air Bus he last parked. He sighs from the sight of this bad weather, thinking this task would be over has only gotten worst. He cross his arms and forces himself into the raging snowstorm. Vash Xenothium Energy Core started to counteract the cold weather again, heating up and fighting against the cold...."No...not now!!" Vash cries as he falls to his knees while gripping into his chest, feeling his internals cramping and burning like corrosive acid.....From a distance, the Air Bus was there but it was more than several yards away. The pain however keeps breaching into his chest cavity, the nerves surround it began to tighten up as the Energy Core power grows while the blizzard intensifies.
Vash suddenly falls into the blanket of snow, feeling that the Xenothium Energy had finally overcome his ability to move. But with a small ounce of strength left into his index finger, he reaches for the comm. link and sends a distress signal out to anyone within a 250 mile radius...Vash eyes soon felt heavy, feeling he was about to pass out as the blizzard's snow constantly pounds on him...."Anyone...out...th-th-there...."

Ryuta had decided to stop by the Melda Ore Plant to gather some snow for his canteen, having been aware of how dry and hot it was going to be. Though the heat of the Vanallia Desert wasn't going to have any negative affect on him, he still ran the risk of dehydration and doesn't want to take any chances if the base underneath the sand doesn't even have a decorative fountain.
To a normal human, gathering snow that has been stepped on and contaminated with chemicals such as oil, gunpowder and engine fuel would make a very poisonous, if not deadly, cocktail. But for Ryuta, it amounts to nothing more than recipes for his bombs, particularly his frost bombs as he seemed to be using them more often than the other three. Granted he would have to taste the unsavoriness of oil and engine fuel, but because he needed all his defenses to fight against any misunderstanding humanitarian group such as Maverick Hunter he had since grown a tolerance for it.
Ryuta lands on the surface of the snow, finding himself almost blinded by the blizzard that had mysteriously blown in, obviously a defense mechanism conceived to disorient and drive off intruders. He had to hurry and gather what he needed to survive the harshness of the desert; despite being resistant to all elements, he still ran the risk of suffering hypothermia, a realization he resented acknowledging rather traumatically.
He quickly crouches down and begins gathering hands-full of snow and stuffing them into his canteen, eventually becoming aware of the frost forming on his Vermillion robe from the unbreathable winds tossing the rest of the snow all over the Island. If he tries to fly off now, the midday sun would liquefy the frost, making his wings too heavily soaked to keep him airborne. He would have to find shelter to avoid freezing to unconsciousness and dry off while waiting out the blizzard.
Luckily he noticed a silhouette in the shape of an air bus not too far from where he landed. Thinking it had crashed here because of the blizzard, Ryuta heads over to it and feels around for an entrance, finding an opening at the side and stumbling into it. To his surprise, the entire air bus is vacant and intact, but as he was preparing to explore the interior and see if it was still operational, he hears a faint voice amidst the howling winds. Looking behind him, he sees a humanoid figure laying several yards in the distance.
Assuming he was the pilot of this air bus, Ryuta rushes over to the figure, keeping on hand tugging on his hood to keep from being blown off while using the other to haul the humanoid's arm around the back of his neck and hauling him towards the air bus. Once inside, he heads to the cockpit and studies the controls, finding one that controls the hatch and configuring it to close it before anymore of the snow blows into the cargo area.

In shock but without a word, he was inside the air bus he rode, wondering how he got in. But his mind didn't carry on that little story for long as his attention was interrupted by a hooded figure in front of him; he size of an average man as Vash see's. Vash graps a seat but there was no strength left in his finger, his body was still aching from the pain earlier....Vash deeply stares at the stranger who seemed focus at the moment, but he had to ask how he got here. Vash was surprised to someone got his distress signal from such an isolated area, but maybe luck was on his side Vash thought. "Th-Thanks out there..." he tiredly replied.

He moves away from the controls, as he was sure the air bus belonged to Vash, while taking his winged cape and shaking off the melted snow, only succeeding in knocking away the droplets clinging to the surface if its feathers. He could still feel the dampness from the fabric underneath, indicating he would still be unable to fly for a while.

He leans back while beriefly looking out the frosted covered windows, nothing but white fields among the horizon. Vash turns back to the stranger, wondering his intentions, "Um...did a rescue team got my distress signal?" he looks around the area, "Where are the others?" he desperately asked. Soon his insides started to ache again, he quickly hold his rib cage to endure the pain. Vash softly grunts but it was nothing more than the Xenothium Energy going through a cooling process. He then looks back at the stranger with one eye, waiting for an answer.

He looks towards the cockpit controls, "The air bus should have a stronger distress signal that might alert the help you need; that's assuming the flight capabilities haven't frozen over from the intensity of this storm."

In moments Vash falls back to the driver's seat, feeling tired after all that walk he did in the vehicle. The air bus's electrical power is at 79% capacity as the green lite monitor shows it, the cold weather must of dampen the engine thus needing to "warm up" in order to fully operate. "It's going to take awhile.." Vash said to the hooded stranger.
And soon an awkward silence fell upon them, Vash feeling slightly uncomfortable for the moment, start to conversate with him to kill some time while the engine was warming up. "You aren't planning to go in 'there' are you?" he says in a tired tone.

While he was aware of the factory situated in the middle of the artificial icecap, he has yet to bother himself into figuring out what was so important to surround it with such subzero elements. Then again, if he told the reploid the real reason he came here, he would also run the risk of giving away the locations of his intended hiding places, forcing him to relocate before word of his existence in Giga City reach Maverick Hunter at the moment they are recovering from the initial shock of Arretium's ambush.

Then he reaches for the back seat for an small E-tank, holding the cylinder can, he gently swirls it around a bit to judge how much is in there. Only a swig of energy left, quite a depressing situation from where he's standing. Vash then looks up to the stranger while he offer's the E-tank to him, "There's enough for two if ya want some...." he asked.

Though he should also admit the reason why, there was no telling what kind of reaction this reploid would give him if he found out the truth behind his internal appearance. Even if he looks like the type that won't mentally malfunction at the thought of humans not minding the aftermath of their traumatic ordeals, he doesn't trust the reploid won't ignorantly talk about him while within earshot of a Hunter on duty.
