Does anybody here really dislike the way X went? I found it enraging that he was killed off by someone as pathetic as Elpizo. It was a cheap shot.

Since I never play Megaman Zero 2 - 4. But I remember something an user told in another topic. X wasn't died. His body was destroy by Elpizo. X is still alive as Cyber elf.

I thought it was a perfect scene. Zero being helpless and unable to do anything, witnesses his partner, X be destroyed in one swift stroke, and then he's ready to kill Elpizo. Before, he really had no reason to. Now, it was personal. Now, Elpizo was truly a maverick.

It's about time someone agreed with me on Elpizo's coolness factor.

But in all, no, it wasn't horrible at all. First off, Eplizo is not pathetic, if anything he's the opposite. After his operation failed he went on his own into several dangerous area to retrieve the items he needed to sneak into Neo Arcadia. Aside from going into forbidden area's he even had Zero beat in the overall race. Then, single handed he snuck into Neo Arcadia's deepest most forbidden area to do what? Bring forth all hell with the dark elf? If you can get past the 3 guardians, sneak into Arcadia, outdo Zero for the entire time, your worthy to kill a stationary X.

I thought it was horrible. It definately assured me that there's nothing interesting after the X series until Legends. Some of the events in the Z series(primarily X's death) influenced my decision on buying and caring about future games even outside its series.

There's also the Bias. 'Cmon, of all the times Zero likes to be cool and useful, he stops when X was in danger and can't move. Just ran into some random trap.

Distract the Guardians? Were you even paying attention during ZERO2? Elpizo made it past them on his own. Every time you fought a Guardian in Neo Arcadia, Elpizo had already passed them by, no doubt after roughing them up a little too. Or did you forget the part where Elpizo made Harpuia his bitch?

I'll never get this. For me the moment Epis 'killed' X was the turning point of the ZERO-series; such a bold move showed us that the series was willing to step out of the shadow of all that came before it, it was wiling to thread new grounds, destroy the status quo and move forward with a story that flows naturally from start to an unprecedented finish.

How's that biased? It showed Zero's weakness to surprise attacks and from there the scene masterfully displayed the emotions Zero felt by his own inability to save his friend and stop the Dark Elf from being released.

At the same time, that attack barely bothered X, who had already discarded his body and become a Cyber Elf. The very same X who throughout the entire series is said to have the legendary status of a messiah that saved the world twice over. The destruction of X's body is highly symbolic toward that cause; discarding his material shell and ascending.

If you ask me, it's everyone who's going "Elpizo sucks! Zero shoulda kicked his ass!" that're being horribly biased in this situation. It's funny how their entire reasoning for why Elpizo shouldn't have been able to do that are either a) he looks like a fag, or b) he got his ass beat at the start of the game. For the first one, it's ironic seeing as Zero wears a thong and has a ponytail, you hypocrites, and for the latter, it's entirely consistent due to the fact that Elpizo, after that point, is jacked up on Baby Elf juice and able to make everyone his bitches. The only reason you fight the Guardians while chasing him all over the place, is because Elpizo is faster than both you AND the Guardians, and is solely focused on his goal: Get the Dark Elf. If he'd actually bothered to stop and fight the Guardians, he would've given them a royal smackdown.

Elpizo was way better than a one-time deal. I wanted to see more than just his damn Cyber Elf in Z3. I wouldn't have minded seeing him in Cyber-space, perhaps. or even in the ZX series as a biometal.

Don't get me wrong here; I acknowledge and respect everything that has happened. I just didn't like it. The more things I learned about the megaman lore, the more I came to realize that I'm not a general megaman fan--hell, I'm not even a megaman X series fan. Just a "Megaman X" fan. I'm gradually losing interest in a majority of events that occured after....even DURING the X series. They made the choice to give X a throwaway death for the sake of plot. Congrats, I say. I just don't give a crap anymore.

Sorry, its my own personal bias against the situation and the characters, not some bias from anything in the game. Didn't think that needed to be clarified. Hence the statement on Zero.

I found it a very moving and powerful scene, as Elpis stabs Xs body as his best friend watches in horror, and then X's body explodes in that glorious gigantic explosion

Honestly, I can understand that X had to die at some point (as much as I REALLY hate to say) but the way X went out was just garbage. They made it seem like X is absolutely nothing anymore...

My only question about the whole ordeal is this.... If Ceil created a Pirate copy version of X, why not create another body for X when he was a cyber-elf? What the crap!

That is a good point, Why didn't X appear to her as a cyber elf and ask her to create a body for him...? It would make everything more simple. And why couldn't X lead Neo Arcadia as a Cyber Elf?

She never made a body for him because they never FOUND him.

they put the big 4 into bodies, but X was nowhere to be found.

And by the time he contacted the resistance in Zero 1-3, Im pretty sure he doesnt have the materials to make a fit body for him. Not to mention the TIME to do so when theya re constantly under attack and attacking key NA areas.

X's death in Z2 only proved that X just no longer wanted to return to the fight. He was dead tired (no pun intended) of his centuries long battle. He had no intention of regaining physical form. His body's death was also of no real bother to him.

He had gained much higher powers as a cyber elf as well, with the ability to project a barrier over the entire resistance base to protect them from Dark Elf's influence.
