One of the most popular Video Game series of all time with it's expansive worlds and gameplay, it's spin-offs and characters, it's plot and overall everything, Final Fantasy is one of the most talked about franchises.
----------------------
To start off, I like the character Squall, and Final Fantasy VIII most out of the series, but XIII looks to be insane. Anybody else hyped for it?

But, that aside, the rest of the series is pure win. My favs are V, IX and X2-*shot
EDIT: Also, nice to see someone who likes FFVIII, that one was horribly underrated.

"The battle system, called Command Synergy Battle in game, has been described as "More tactical than Final Fantasy X, faster than X-2, and almost as seamless as XII." stated by Square Enix.

The characters seem a lot better in XIII, and the setting I almost didn't believe at first. The gameplay looks a lot better than XII's broken controls, and the music I find to be better than all the previous Fantasy games.
But for the love of all that is holy, if I don't find the Victory Fanfare in the game, I will bomb Japan with my lazarz.

Final Fantasy VII is too overrated.

i know eh. im not the biggest RPG fan the only turn based rpgs ive beaten are the paper mario series ff4 and fire emblem (thats more of a rpg strategy but still) i played FF7 til about the halfway past the second disk and sold it for mega man X4 LOL. I think cloud is an overrated character and that cecil or kain would knock him out. just didnt like 7 at all. i know a friend who hated the game so much he sold it and his ps1 for an N64.

IV: Cecil Harvey is awesome. 'Nuff said.
VII: I thought I thought Cloud was awesome at one point then I realized that it was Zack that was awesome. Cloud acted like Zack at the beginning of VII, and that was my favorite time to play. Then I got Crisis Core: VII, and I was blown away. People call Cloud the "Emo" of the FF series but I assumed that was because of KH's fucked up portrayal of him. I must look into it some more.
VIII: Timed hits were awesome all the way back to SMBRPG. Oh, and Quistis is hot. Squall and I used to share similar attitudes.
IX: Zidane is awesome. He reminds me of DBZ for an obvious reason, and his trance form is badass. IX's battle theme ties with VII's as my favorite.
X: Tidus and his Brotherhood weapon is too iconic for my brain. They're awesome. Also, I can relate to him having a father like that. My pops didn't turn into Sin and kill everyone, but he's still guilty of some bad things. lol
I like the main characters from each of these equally(With Zack in the place of Cloud of course) since they each bring something unique to the table.

Everyone has a different perspective on it. I however actually liked the game and I also liked the story because it dealt with politics while the other final fantasies have that "End of the world kind of plot with a hidden love story on the side" which I really grew tired of. But hey I respect our opinion R_B.
And here are my thoughts on the other FF games:
IV: cool ATB system; refreshing for the RPG genre and Character classes kick so much ass!!!
VII: I thought Cloud was cool but then it turns out he was kind of emo, same goes to Sephiroth. And of course I think there's a love story going, Aerith and Cloud right? I don't know. But Crisis Core came by on the PSP with Zack and he was awesome; the "I wanna be a hero" type of personality gets me every time.
VIII: Gun-Blade gimmick was cool, battle system and mini-games are neat. . .then another love story on the side, again?
IX: I hardly notice this game even exist.. .gotta pick this one up later.
X: It's fun, Sphere grid was really great. There's no limit to your character's evolution. . .and another love story on the side? Dang I'm noticing a pattern here.
XII: what I stated above and plus there's SO MANY QUEST TO DO!!!. . .and no love story, FINALLY!!

Vaan is a furry...he must die.The whole reistance vs government storyline has been done to death and is the basis for most every rpg...then again it's kind of hard to make a better enemy then one's own rulers so...

..Just kidding of course.
FF8 is probably my favorite after that. Liked the setting, and I had an odd fixation with the Draw system. Couldn't. Stop. Drawing. Stuff.
FF5 was cool too, I always have liked games with a job-class/change system involved.
As for FF7 (Since it's such a talk'd about game), I thought it was good, but highly overrated. I didn't like the character development too much, which probably contributed to me not getting very far, but I thought the setting was nice.
Rufus Shinra pwnz though. =D

Ok.
FF Origins. (Haven't beat 1 or 2 but 1 is feeling more fun as of right now.)
FF Anthology. (3 is incredible...5 is alright really haven't fleshed out all the class and job possiblities yet.)
FF Chronology. (Haven't beat 4 yet but it is pretty awesome...stuck on that damn wall I think...plus Chrono Trigger...albeit with stupid load times.)
FF 7. (Had, and have never beat it.)
FF 9. (Rented but friggin loved it...need to buy it now...)
FF 10. (Loved it, have beaten it probably 3 times.)
FF 12. (Traded MGS3 for it after beating MGS3 like 4 times and I still regret it to this day...CURSE YOU FF12!!!...which I don't like and haven't beaten either.)
FF Tactics. (Seriously fucking awesome. Never beat it but got to like Ch. 3 of 4...was stuck on Wiegraf's Ares form for like 2 weeks because I saved in a certain point and could not level up any higher because I coudln't go into anymore random battles...I will kill you one day Wiegraf...you and FF12.)
Too much is just enough.
