My thoughts on Mega Man 7? I think it's an awesome game. In fact, it's the game that got me into the Classic Mega Man series in the first place. It had pretty much everything that makes up a good game; Good graphics (for its time, of course; even now, I personally don't mind its graphical style), good music, a good storyline, and most importantly, the gameplay. This game (along with Mega Man 2 at one point) was once considered my favorite Mega Man game, mainly because of the fact that it was the only one I didn't suck at, at the time.

Okay guys,the reason why this game is an important entry is because

1.Very creepy and dark opening for Megaman 7 similar to Super Castlevania 4.

2.You fight 4 bosses until you reach to fight a extra boss in the museum.

3.Intro stage and the first time meeting Bass and Treble.(Most important aspect of the series.)

4.Wily has an obssesion over Gutsman.

5.First time Bass transforms 'ahem' Henshins into Super Bass.

6.Megaman's second time having a Super adapter but first time on a 16-bit console.

7.Protoman's Shield can be wielded,control is fluent & Megaman is always naive.(His weakness.Hmmmmm...)

The game's alright. It had the mentality of 'this might be the final game' to it when it came out, I think. It shows with the final boss being a bit harder than usual.

Why does that make it an important entry?

I dont see why people are complaining about Rockman's speed. Seriously, it aint Sonic the Hedgehog, its about shooting. if its slow, then thats what the slide is there for. Rock's bootlegged dash. Speed in 7 and 8 seemed just fine in its respective games.

They may be comparing it to other similar games. Contra, Metal Slug, which are all run n' gun... Or the later X/Zero/ZX titles that have a bit of a faster pace feel to it...

An all new world opened up with the Dash.

I find nothing wrong with the game except for the length of the level. It seemed a lot longer compared to the rest of the Megaman games. Other than that, everything else was fine.

I personally think MegaMan 7 is a great direction with an art style that defines the MegaMan series well. Hell, it was good enough to spawn two fighting games. If they were to make MegaMan 10 in 16-Bit, I would have been enthralled more. The ProtoMan sprite in MM7 is better too...lol, plus they had his movements and attacks all made. Oh wells. MegaMan 7 to me is highly underrated and it encompassed a massive amount of detail such as the different weapons effecting objects things in the stages. Rush Search was also a cool new ability. Lots of work put into the next jump, but thats okay with Capcom. Lets get lazy and make another 8-Bit games. People will love it because they are suckers. I guess I am probably going to be guilty of that.

I used to like it, but couldn't get back into it after MegaMan and Bass.

But I remember Dr. Wily was a killer.

It's a good game. Good replay value. Speaking of which, does anyone know how to get the vs. mode to work on the Megaman Collection for Gamecube? I already beat the Megaman 7.

I just finished playing the re-make in 8-bit and I have to say I enjoyed it in 8-bit more then I did on the original.

There is just something about 8-bit Rock they just can't bring to a different graphics style.
I don't know why either, New Super Mario bros. has done a great job. I would like to see Rockman accomplish this as well.

I don't count PU, as I like the game but it is a remake and not "New"(not to mention it just didn't have the same "feel" like Mario has done).

It bums me out as I like Rockman 100 times more then Mario.

I think it comes down to the minute differences. Mega Man 7 was good, but for some reason it felt a little clunky compared to it's 8-bit predecessors. (the sound effects might have had something to do with that, but I'm not sure) On the other hand, MMPU did a good job capturing the feel of the original, but the only difference (besides the graphics) was the fact that your buster shots no longer went through walls.

Now, are those minute differences the reason why they're not quite the same as the originals? God only knows, I suppose.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but...

I liked 7. Even more than 2. (I'll probably get punched for saying that) I liked a lot of the new (used loosely) junk in there. The Rush Search, Proto Shield, and the Rush Adaptor (which is why I said "new" loosely). I also very much enjoyed the sprites. In MM8, he looks, thin and scrawny. In 1-6, 9 & 10, he looked really short and a little chubby. Wily's hair looks stylish too. Also, the music was great. Especially the opening stage. And my favorite part...BASS. DERP. Why not? He looks cool and has a pet Wolf!!! And fighting against him was fun.

So, that's my opinion on the matter. Just thought I'd put it out there. If anybody reads this...cool.

I'd like 7 more if the planets didn't need to be perfectly aligned for me to beat it. :P

But I do like it. The stages, the music, most of the bosses, even the art direction. The intro stage has some of my favorite music, so energetic and urgent.

And I don't think anyone hates Spring Man. He's just the de facto butt of jokes given that, well...he's Spring Man. He's right up there with Wood Man and Top Man for "what was wily thinking?" robot design. :P

No, you're not the only one. I happen to like Mega Man 7 (along with Mega Man 3) better than Mega Man 2, as well. Like I've said several times in the past, Mega Man 2 has GOT to be one of THE most overrated games of all time. Many people act as if it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, treating it like the Second Coming of Jesus. Sure, it might have been a major improvement from Mega Man 1 (which I don't think is a bad game), but it definitely isn't the best in the series like many people think. Games like Mega Man 3 and onward have outdone it in almost every possible way, from longer (and better) level designs, better storylines, and lastly, there aren't a bunch of Robot Masters who are weak against the SAME weapon. Seriously, almost the entire cast was weak against the Quick Boomerang and/or Metal Blade (including Metal Man, himself). I'm also not all that impressed with Mega Man 2's level designs, either. I'll NEVER be able to understand WHY Mega Man 2 gets all the recognition that it does, when there are other games in the series that have outclassed it.

I can understand Keiji Inafune's love for it. Apparently, it's the only MegaMan game where he felt he gave it all his effort. I suppose that love can rub off on a lot of players, especially when it's such a huge improvement of an already great game.

My personal favorite from the Classic series is a tie between 4 and 6, though. Actually 2 is my least replayed of the classic series, oddly enough. Think it's the turret boss. Most tedious boss ever! Ruins the entire fortress for me.

I liked 7. It's my third favorite in the series, behind 9 and 2.
